Gilbey doesn't remember a time when he wasn't drawing as a kid, but before he got to illustration, his education focused more on Fine Art.

Spending her time between Beijing and New York, Xiangni was trained at the School of Visual Arts in 2016. She subsequently transitioned from illustration to fine art by enrolling in the MFA Fine Arts program at Pratt Institute in 2020. This doesn't mean her background in illustration was time wasted, though.

She also thanks her art teacher, who helped her lean more towards a creative subject in her further education. "My My parents and teachers constantly encouraged me to participate in art competitions. Through those, I realised that I could pursue art as a profession. That's when I decided to go to an art college.".

To change things up, she moved to the United States to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts, which further broadened her cultural and artistic horizons.
