Designed by SOFTlab , the commissioned public artwork pulls inspiration from an unexpected source – pavilions found in Romantic English Gardens. From its location on a hill, Halo can be seen above the treetops by surrounding roadways and enjoyed beyond the campus.

They needed a design system that not only spoke to all of those use cases, but stood out as its own brand. If you’ve ever broken an arm, you probably would like to forget the weeks of incessant discomfort and funky smells associated with wearing a traditional cast. Unwieldy, itchy, and impossible to shower with it on, the cast seems like a crude remnant of another era. In a case of design (and technology) coming to the rescue, biomedical design engineer Ashley Moy co-developed Cast21 to cast off the layers of discomfort experienced while mending a broken arm, wrist, or hand.

In many small towns, residents need to make the most of the limited infrastructure they have. On the outskirts of Terlano in South Tyrol , Italy, local firm MoDus Architects has done just that, with its thoughtful renovation and addition to an aging school. Built in the 1990s — and first renovated in the early 2000s — the U-shaped structure comprised a nursery school, a kindergarten and a youth centre, but had been outgrown by the population.
