This is, in fact, a defense of modern bookdesign: “When we look at the books about the history of printing and typography, we’re only getting the greatest hits and that tends to give the idea that things were better back then. These are things we can see in all sorts of design, not just bookdesign.
For starters, David Pearson, the celebrated bookdesigner whose typography-forward approach has caught the eye of everyone from Wes Anderson to Herms, will share insights from his remarkable career.
