Sheila Levrant de Bretteville Sheila Levrant de Bretteville is an American graphic designer who has been a pioneer in feminist and socially conscious design. She founded the Women’s Graphic Center in California in 1973, which later became the Woman’s Building, a feminist art and education center.
Sarah: Between 2012 and 2015 I had a part time role at the Institute of Contemporary Arts and during that time I was running my own practice 3 days a week – that’s when I really got a flavour for what it was like to be an independent designer and I loved it.
