Sometimes, additional visual elements like lines or shapes would be incorporated, like the 2003 logo redesign that added three parallel lines running through the interior space of the letters. The original 8-bar IBM logo was designed in 1972 by legendary graphic designer Paul Rand. The font is proprietary to IBM.
