After I graduated, I got a Fulbright to study East German design history and I ended up in Dresden for a year, traveling around former East Germany, interviewing industrialdesigners and architects, and other designers about their work. But then after that I immediately started working at a design studio.
His buildings, especially his Vertical Glass House (Shanghai, 1991-2013) and Split House (2002), have beautiful stories to tell. These designs are also among the earliest uncompromisingly modern and concept-driven buildings in China. But I was also interested in pursuing industrialdesign. I was quite lost.
This guy was like the punk rock of design – he didn't play by the rules and certainly didn't care what anyone thought about it. Carson made his mark as the art director of Ray Gun magazine, where he introduced the world to his experimental, unconventional style. He's known for pushing boundaries and breaking design rules.
